ain't that good news

Last day of 2010! And it was a good 'un. I went into town, relaxed in one of my favourite spots with my notebook, came home and discovered my mum's old typewriter from the 70s and made heart-shaped chocolate cakes. Excellence.

So these shorts again. I can't stop wearing them. They're just too perfect. And yes! My hair is red now. It has been for a few weeks, but I don't think it was totally noticeable in my last outfit post. I'm a little bit in love with it.

I hope everyone has a spectacular new years, whether you're partying hard or chilling even harder.

P.S. I've had Sam Cooke on repeat for the past couple of days and it's been magical.

true directions

Inspiration time. I spent my yesterday watching But I'm a Cheerleader and it was overloaded with style. Hella entertaining but what got me were the barbie dreamhouse vibes, the oversaturated colours, the sweaters and full skirts, the librarian glasses, the old school barrettes and the intense pink and blue palette. Visual feast.

Give it a watch here.

white wine in the sun

Merry boxing day amigos! I hope y'all had yourselves excellent christmases. Or weekends. Or both! Mine was deliciously pleasant - good food, good wine, good company, good air conditioning - that's all you need, really.

Today was equally relaxing - sitting back with my newly acquired Community dvd (after watching the Doctor Who christmas special o' course), a ridiculous amount of chocolate and these boss shorts. I kind of feel like I'm channeling Sloane Peterson? A 39˚C version, anyway.

P.S. Tim Minchin sums up rather wonderfully a typical antipodean christmas...

P.P.S. Apologies for the super sporadic posting that's made up this blog over the past few months. It sucks, but I just haven't had it in me. Hopefully that can be remedied. :)

Lost in the moment

Oh, hey. Remember me? I had this blog once that I used to update semi-regularly... that was nice. Let's give that another shot, shall we?

Dad: What's that? A bow tie? That's a bit odd, isn't it?
Me: BOW TIES ARE COOL. (I got to say it out loud!)

It's been ages since I've taken photos of myself and it felt a little weird to be doing it. Pretty sure I've become about 15% more self conscious for some reason too. But anyway! Uni is just about over for another year and I have a TON of spare time ahead of me and I'm really really looking forward to getting back into the whole blogging thing. Properly, this time.

So... what has everyone been up to?

Teenage crime

This weekend's purchases were pretty rather lovely.

Sportsgirl nail polish / Frankie and Russh magazines / earrings scrunchie and bow tie all bought at the Huge Vintage Sale

Little things to make life just that little bit sweeter. (And because little things are all I'm currently limiting myself to spending-wise. Life is tough.)

Atmosphere

Hulloo! Another fabulous launch party was attended on saturday - this time it was Atmosphere, an exhibition featuring Fremantle-based designers' work as both fashion and art. A runway show that weaves through the crowd around installations made by the designers? Too cool. (And definitely not like anything I've had the chance to photograph before. I can't put into words how much I'm loving the experience that the Fashion Festival has been.)

Atmosphere features the work of Ashe, Batchelor, Chinky Wooster, Cocoon Textiles, Kartique, Leah Tarlo, Loop, Love in Tokyo, Megan Salmon, She Seldom Blushes and Totomoto. It's at Victoria Hall on High St in Fremantle and runs until wednesday, open 11 am to 4 pm. Definitely do not miss out! Yes, THAT IS A COMMAND. (More info here.)

Photos of some of the pretty folk who attended can be seen here.

Popsicle!

The lovely people behind On William launched their pop-up shop Popsicle! on wednesday with a party that was pretty freaking fun. Drinks, music, origami boats, nautically-dressed waiters and too many cool people for words. The shop is open daily at PICA from 10 am to 5 pm until the 15th of September and more info can be found here.
